This class series is intended to offer a foundation of support for your transition to motherhood.
The transition to motherhood is one of the most profound, amazing, and challenging times in a woman’s life.
If you are expecting, have you allowed yourself a space to prepare for the emotional transition to motherhood?
If you have already given birth, have you had an opportunity to process your experience and how life has changed since becoming a mother?
This class series will look at ways of incorporating mindfulness for managing the ups and downs of becoming a new mother:
Explore the concept of “Matrescence”, the process of becoming a mother.
Discuss common struggles such as feeling anxious, not feeling like yourself, overwhelming emotions, and other emotional and physical changes which arise during the transition to motherhood.
Define common myths of motherhood and your personalized ideals of becoming a mother. Explore their impact on your self concept and well-being.
Practice mindful movement and meditation to improve mental and emotional wellness during the postpartum period.
Set intentions and practice exercises for mindful parenting which you can bring with you throughout your journey of motherhood.
You are welcome to bring your newborn or pre-crawling baby with you.
This class series is open to all mothers whether you are expecting or a new mom. Every experience of birth and postpartum is it’s own unique journey, so this workshop will benefit even experienced mothers.
Coursework is based upon the teachings of Jon Kabat Zinn, founder of MBSR.
